  • Luna sponsoring coat drive

    Luna Community College students led by both student government and the student nurses association are conducting an “LCC Cares Coat Drive.”

    Although the emphasis will be on coats, any article of cold weather clothing, such as hats, gloves, and scarves are welcome.

    Items will be distributed Nov. 23. The last day to donate a coat and other items will be Nov. 22.

    ALBUQUERQUE — John McCluskey is not the vicious pit bull or three-time loser that prosecutors have made him out to be, according to his defense attorneys. Rather, they said Monday that the Arizona inmate convicted of killing an Oklahoma couple while on the run in New Mexico is a remorseful animal lover unable to properly reason because of his abusive childhood and brain defects.

    Wednesday, Nov. 6 — The Student Madrigal Choir of the University of Muenster, Muenster, West Germany, will present a choral concert at Ilfeld Auditorium Saturday, under the sponsorship of Highlands University. The 57-voice choir is touring the United States for the third time and has made 12 highly successful European tours as well, according to Ronald Wynn, Highlands’ choir director.

  • Photo club invites members

    Photographers naturally flock together. Members of the Meadow City Camera Club in Las Vegas get together and shoot favorite scenes, then talk about the best way to process and print the results.

    They exchange ideas and inspire one another. Although most photograph digitally, now members produce innovative work in film, using old cameras or even rejuvenated Polaroids.
