    West Las Vegas High School is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.and from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 24. All parents, guardians and community members are encouraged to attend.

    City of Las Vegas utility customers can once again pay their bills at City Hall. The payment center at City Hall, 1700 North Grand, has re-opened and will be accepting payments from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m, though it will be closed during the lunch hour. The payment center is for payments only. Payments can still be made. at the Utility Department on 12th Street from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

    A group of SMET students recently attended The New Mexico Alliance of Minority Participation 2011 Student Research Conference from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.

    Felipe Garcia presented on his research of a mechanized green chile destemming machine. Garcia attended a Summer Community College Opportunity Research Experience  program at NMSU this past summer,  where he performed the research for the green chile destemming machine.
