  • NM gov aide recorded on state email use

    An Albuquerque attorney said Tuesday he has a recording of the governor’s top aide telling one of his clients that he never uses state email to conduct business because “I don’t want to go to court (or) jail.”

    But the aide said the small recorded clip released to reporters is out of context, and he vowed to file an ethics complaint because the full recording outs a young female relative of the aide as a witness in a sexual assault case.

    Friday, Sept. 7 — West Las Vegas school administrators were experiencing serious problems in providing sufficient classroom space and textbooks to an increased enrollment of nearly 200 students. Total enrollment this year is expected to reach 1,800, as compared to 1,632 last year, according to Superintendent Phillip Gonzales. Montezuma school, with two classrooms, had already reached an enrollment of over 70 and it was found necessary to transfer all third-grade students to the North and South Public Schools to relieve this load.

    THUMBS UP! NEW BUSINESS. It looks as if Las Vegas is going to get its first modern brewery. New Mexico Craft Brewing has been approved for the necessary licenses so it can make, distribute and sell its beer at 1212 Railroad Ave. Some 15 new jobs will be created, with manager Miguel Melendez saying the company’s goal is to “stay true to Las Vegas and to our area” by keeping its beer “as local as possible” — all the way down to local artists creating product labels that tell the story of this area.
