  • Vandalism case handed to state police

New Mexico State Police has taken over the investigation of the Robertson High School vandalism.

The Las Vegas Police Department turned the criminal case over to state police on Thursday in an effort to avoid any appearance of impropriety, Deputy Las Vegas Chief Eugene Garcia confirmed.

In addition, Garcia said the damage estimate has been reduced from the original estimate of between $20,000 and $40,000 to $2,000. The reduced estimate could mean that anyone charged in the vandalism  would face lesser charges.
