La Plaza Little League’s 10-11 softball team fell just a couple runs shy of a state championship this week in Española, beating the host team once but not twice.
Española edged La Plaza 27-26 on Wednesday night following a four-hour game that ended on a disputed obstruction call. Walks hurt La Plaza, which went through four pitchers and allowed 11 unearned runs of the base-on-balls variety.
“It was a heartbreaker,” said manager Paul Sandoval.
