    State and city police, in conjuction with the Drug Enforcement Administration, will provide the public with an opportunity to get rid of unwanted prescription drugs this Saturday. The state police office, 301 Mills Ave., will accept prescription drugs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
    City police will collect medications from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Las Vegas Fire Department, 604 Legion Drive. They suggest removing identifying information.

    Guard recruiter arrested in Clovis

    CLOVIS — A National Guard recruiter from Lubbock has been arrested in Clovis on suspicion of child solicitation.

    Curry County authorities say 44-year-old Jeffrey Jackson arrived at a decoy house in Clovis with a box of condoms for the purpose of having sex with a 15-year-old girl. Deputies then took the Texas man into custody.

    ALBUQUERQUE — State Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles Daniels declined Wednesday to recuse himself from a high-profile judicial bribery case, issuing a lengthy order that accused the prosecutor of trying to force jurists off the case with what he knew to be baseless accusations.

  • Krysten Romero crowned Little Miss Las Vegas

    Krysten Romero, 6, was crowned Little Miss Las Vegas 2011 at the 10th annual Little Miss Las Vegas Pageant earlier this month.  She wowed the judges and audience with her dance to “RockinRobin.”  

    Romero is in kindergarten at Armijo Elementary. She is the daughter of Adam and Shannon Saiz and Marcus Romero and Miriam Rodriguez.
