  • Award winners - Wagon Mound school custodians recognized

    The Wagon Mound Public Schools custodians were recognized individually for maintaining their work orders, reports, schedule of inspections, and keeping their schools in clean and safe conditions. Each received a golden plaque that reads, “Your resourcefulness and dedication to the students and staff have yielded improved facilities and an enhanced learning environment.”

  • Wrong-way drivers

    Who can forget the Nov. 11, 2006, Interstate 25 crash in which wrong-way driver Dana Papst plowed head-on with a minivan carrying a Las Vegas family?

    Killed in that horrific crash just east of Santa Fe were Paul Gonzales, 36, his wife, Renee Collins Gonzales, 39, along with their daughters Jacquelynn Renee Gonzales, 11, and Selena Gonzales, 10, and Paul Gonzales’ 17-year-old stepdaughter Alisha Rae Garcia.

  • Rangerettes nab threepeat

    For the third time in as many seasons, the Mora Rangerettes are Northern Rio Grande Tournament champions.

    That’s a matter for historical perspective. For the here and now, it’s worth noting that the tournament victory represented Win No. 9, as in a 9-0 start to the season.

    “Our success has been due to good team play,” said Mora head coach Mark Cassidy. “All the girls are contributing with defense and rebounding.”
