A local call center on Wednesday temporarily let go 36 of its employees because it has lost some business from one of its clients, the company said.

Results-Las Vegas, which is owned by Florida-based The Results Companies, said one of its clients, WellCare, an insurance company, is suspending one of its lines of business with Results because of regulatory issues. The line of business affected is the enrollment of new customers.

Clifford Gutierrez, the Mora County man convicted of groping a number of girls, has been sentenced to six years in prison after violating the terms of his probation.

In October, Gutierrez, 35, was sentenced to probation at the request of victims’ families. But District Judge Eugenio Mathis told Gutierrez that he would sentence him to prison if he saw him in his court again.

Tuesday is the election for the Luna Community College Board of Trustees. Three seats are up for election.

The Optic submitted questionnaires to all of the candidates to give the public an idea about where they stand on the issues.

Today the Optic will run the responses from all three candidates in Las Vegas-based District 2 and one candidate in Santa Rosa-based District 4 (The incumbent in Santa Rosa, Kenneth Flores, didn’t respond.)

In today’s edition, the Optic will run the responses from the Springer-based candidates.

Gilberto Reyes, who has spent 14 months in the San Miguel County jail, will be behind bars for longer.

On Tuesday, a six-man, six-woman jury failed to return a verdict in the case involving Reyes, who is accused of distribution of marijuana.

After more than three hours of deliberations, the foreman of the Mora County jury reported to District Judge Eugenio Mathis that he doubted that the panel would come to any agreement even if they were given more time to deliberate.
