  • Council OKs film ordinance changes

    The City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to approve proposed changes to the city’s film ordinance to make it easier for the movie industry to shoot in Las Vegas.

    The changes, which were recommended by the Las Vegas Film Commission, shorten the timelines for film companies to give notice of their plans to film here from 45 days to two weeks. They also eliminate the requirement that film companies get signatures of support from 61 percent of impacted businesses and residents.

  • Police shooting sparks calls

    ALBUQUERQUE — A second suspect has been fatally shot by Albuquerque police in three days, sparking renewed calls by activists for a federal probe.

    Authorities say an Albuquerque officer shot and killed a man Wednesday near Laguna Pueblo after a chase that began when the motorist shot at two women in Albuquerque.
