    Is it really almost December 1st as I write this? I will admit I don’t keep track of time vey well, and both September and October flew by rapidly, as in fast up here in the mountains this year.

    Back in the day, the ridgeline snowpack was already beginning to fill in, pack down and reflect the beautiful Sangre de Cristo mountain sunrises that often are spectacular (as are the sunsets up here as well).

  • Small SweetHearts

    SweetHearts Cheer is a noncompetitive spirit group created by Andrea Southworth and Amber Wiese to bring community support to Highlands University, cheering at every weekend home basketball game in 2017-18.

    The group was created to support a good friend, Highlands mens basketball coach Craig Snow, with the hopes of boosting attendance.

  • Union Elementary September 2017 Students of the Month

    Here are the Union Elementary School Students of the Month for September 2017.

    They are Tony Apodaca, Audrina Montoya, Damian Avila, Aubriana Ortiz and Unique Gomez.

    Students of the month for October and November will be published, as space allows, once submitted.

  • SoloWorks program has its first graduates

    Three SoloWorks Program students had the personal drive and motivation to complete 140 hours of customer service, business skills and career development training during the first SoloWorks Program training.

    “I’m so proud of these students. They have worked very hard in preparing themselves to work at home as customer service representatives. This is evidenced by the interviews they are getting from companies interested in hiring them, said SoloWorks Program Director, Marena Drlik.

  • Valley essay contest winners

    West Las Vegas Valley Elementary and Middle School recently recognized Cancer, Violence & Drug Prevention Awareness Month in October with an essay contest.

    The winners were Charlotte Gallegos, Ben Sandoval, Gabriella Salinas, Isaiah Ortiz and Ezekiel Gallegos.

  • Looking for a ‘fair’ opportunity

    Highlands University hosted its Fall Career and Internship Fair Nov. 2 in the Student Union Ballroom.

    The Office of Career Services organizes the Career and Internship Fair each fall. More than 40 employers participated.
