  • Torie Ann Vigil

    Torie Ann Vigil, age 17, a life time resident of Mora County, N.M. passed away on Friday, Nov. 2, 2007 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

    She was born on June 17, 1990, in Las Vegas, N.M. to Herman Vigil and Loretta Gandert Vigil.

    She was an 11th grade student at the Mora High School. She enjoyed playing softball and spending time with family and friends. She was a loving daughter, grand-daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend.

    A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of the St. Gertrude/s Church in Mora, N.M.

  • Deborah Ann Lawrence

    Deborah Ann Lawrence was called home to the Lord, Oct. 28, 2007. She is survived by her husband Rusty Lawrence, her mother Anita Martinez, and her brothers and sisters. She is preceded in death by her father Secundino Argon. Deborahs love of teaching was kindergarten and first grade, most recently at Leander, Texas.

    Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday with services to follow at noon on Nov. 3, 2007, at Beck Funeral Home in Cedar Park, Texas.

  • John B. Martinez

    John B. Martinez of Chupaderos, N.M., died peacefully on the Oct. 28, 2007, with his wife of 64 years at his side, at the Alta Vista Hospital in Las Vegas, N.M.

    John was born in Yankee, N.M. on Sept. 10, 1920. He was united in marriage to Josephine on Feb. 12, 1943, at the St. Joseph’s Church in Raton, N.M..

    He served in the 8th Army Air Corps during WWII as a B-17 Waist Gunner and flew 35 missions in the European Theater receiving a number of commendations.

  • Leslie W. Cox

    Leslie W. Cox, age 87, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M. since 1964 and former resident of Seattle, Wash., passed away at his home on Wednesday Oct. 31, 2007, following a brief illness. He was born on May 3, 1920, in Bernice, Okla., to the late William Cox and Roberta Woods Cox.

    He was united in marriage in Seattle on Nov. 30, 1946, to Mary Jane Peggy Basler.

    Les was a baker by profession following his fathers footsteps. He graduated from Elma High School in Washington State.

    The mass of resurrection for Ernesto Rael, age 77, a lifetime resident, farmer and rancher of Anton Chico, N.M. was celebrated this morning at 11 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Church in Anton Chico with Father John Jasinski as celebrant.

    Interment followed at the St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Anton Chico. Family and friends are invited to join the Rael family in celebrating his life immediately following the services at the Anton Chico Fire Station.

    Jose Herminio Montoya, age 56, a long-time resident of Mora County and a resident of Encinal, N.M., for the past 26 years, passed away Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in Rainsville, N.M., following a sudden and unexpected illness.

    He was born in Rainsville, N.M., on Jan. 1, 1951, to the late Ambrosio B. Montoya and Celina E. Casias.

    He was united in marriage in Mora on Nov. 25, 1972, to Elizabeth K. Padilla.

  • Gabina A. Roybal

    The mass of resurrection for Gabina A. Roybal, age 93, resident of Las Vegas, N.M., for the past eight years and former resident of Garita, N.M., was celebrated this morning at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment followed at 11:30 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

    Flowers are not omitted; however, donations may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund, 811 Sixth Street, Las Vegas, N.M. 87701.

    Gabina A. Roybal

    Gabina A. Roybal, age 93, resident of Las Vegas, for the past eight years and former resident of Garita, N.M., passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at her home following an extended illness.

    She was born in Las Vegas, N.M., on Sept. 23, 1914, to the late Gregorio Lucero and Ambrosia Ulibarri Lucero.

    She was united in marriage in Las Vegas, N.M., in 1939, to the late Gilbert Roybal.

    She enjoyed cooking, gardening and her nieces and nephews.

    A lifelong Catholic, she was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church.

    Joe Gallegos, “Mr. G,” 66, a resident of Peasco, passed away after a short illness on Friday Sept. 14, 2007. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brigida Gallegos; granddaughter Cassandra Gallegos; father and mother-in-law Domingo and Paula Martinez; and brother Franklin Gallegos.
