  • Marcus Bustos

    Marcus Bustos, 21, went to sleep in Jesus’ arms on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe after bravely battling leukemia. He was surrounded by his loving family as he passed on to his eternal life.

    Marcus was born on Nov. 13, 1986, in Las Vegas.

    He was currently a junior at the University of New Mexico, where he was studying anthropology and photography. He had a passion for taking photographs of old churches, historical buildings and beautiful landscapes.

  • Dr. Kenneth J. Padilla

    Memorial services for Dr. Kenneth J. Padilla DDS, a prominent Santa Fe dentist and beloved member of the community, will be held Friday, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m. at the McGee Memorial Chapel of the Berardinelli Funeral Home in Santa Fe.

  • Stephanie Dimas and Damian Lucero-Ortiz

    The mass of resurrection for Stephanie Dimas, age 25, and Damian Lucero-Ortiz, age 24, was celebrated this morning at 9 at the Immaculate Conception Church with Father George V. Salazar as celebrant. Interment followed at the Church of Christ Cemetery.

  • Dion J. Hoogerhuis

    Dion J. Hoogerhuis, age 20, was born on March 27, 1987 in Chula Vista, Calif., and was raised in Yokosuka, Japan, passed away on Dec. 25, 2007 after battling an extended illness.

  • John E. Sandoval

    A rosary will be recited this evening at 7 p.m. in St. Francis Chapel at Gonzales Funerals & Cremations for 79 year old John E. Sandoval. He passed away at Alta Vista Regional Hospital on Christmas day following an extended illness. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:30 a. m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Cremation has already taken place and the interment will be on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2008, at 11:30 a.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery.

  • Samuel Thomas 'Tom' Ansley

    Samuel Thomas “Tom” Ansley, 98, a longtime Mora County and former Las Vegas resident, died Thursday, Dec. 20, at his home in Santa Fe with his wife and youngest daughter at his side.

    A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Mora, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, N.M.

    Samuel Thomas “Tom” Ansley, 98, a longtime Mora County and former Las Vegas resident, died Thursday, Dec. 20, at his home in Santa Fe with his wife and youngest daughter at his side.

    A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Mora, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Las Vegas, N.M.

    He attended West Las Vegas High School during his Junior year, 2003-2004, before returning to Yokosuka, Japan to graduate from Nile C. Kinnick High School in 2005.

    He was a second year student at UNM in Albuquerque.

    John E. Sandoval, 79, a life long resident of Las Vegas, passed away at Alta Vista Regional Hospital on Tuesday following an extended illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose A. and Rosalia Martinez Sandoval and two brothers: Joe Robert and George Sandoval.
