  • Dennis J. Chavez

    The long-fought battle with cancer was finally lost by Dennis J. Chvez on March 5, 2008. A lifetime resident of Buena Vista, Dennis, age 47, is survived by his son Angelico, of the family home, his parents, Lee Roy and Osma Chvez of Buena Vista, twin brother Danny and wife Bernadette of Golondrinas. Also surviving are nephews and niece Henrique, Alonzo, and Analisa Chvez, and a very special family friend Lorelei Almanzar. Dennis was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Palemn and Jessie Chvez of Guadalupita and maternal grandparents Emilio and Sofia Brizal of Buena Vista.

  • Jose 'Rubel' Sanchez

    Jose ‘Rubel’ Sanchez, age 88, a lifelong resident of Cleveland, N.M. passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at the Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on Aug. 31, 1919, to the late Antonio Sanchez and Atochita Trujillo Sanchez in Cleveland, N.M. He was a World War II Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion of Mora, N.M.

    He enjoyed singing and playing the harmonica, going to the mountains, going to the casino and spending time with family.

  • Vicente Sisneros

    The Mass of Christian Burial for Vicente Sisneros, 103, a resident of Las Vegas who passed away at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute on Saturday, was conducted this morning at 9 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church. Father George V. Salazar celebrated the Mass. The interment followed in the San Jose Cemetery with the following serving as casket bearers: Paul Vigil, Pasqual Jaramillo, Brandon Gonzales, Nash Jaramillo, Billy Tafoya and Andres Aragon. Honorary bearers were the staff and caregivers at Ponderosa 4 and his extended family from Ponderosa 1,2, 3, and 4.

  • Joann Elizabeth Encinias

    Joann Elizabeth Encinias, 46, a resident of Villanueva, N.M. passed away on Monday March 3, 2008.

    She was born in Escondido, Cal., on March 10, 1961 to Joe and Mary Salarzano. Joann was united in marriage to David Encinias on Feb. 14, 1982, at Nuestra Seora de Guadalupe Catholic Church in Villanueva, N.M.

    A lifelong Catholic, she was a former mayordomo of Nuestra Seora de Guadalupe Church and was a very active member in community events.

    Joann is preceded in death by her sister, Nonie Salarzano.

  • Alfredo Roybal

    Alfredo Roybal, age 88, a longtime resident of Mora passed away Monday March 3, 2008, at the Inland Valley Hospital in Wildomor, California during a planned trip to visit his younger sister Virginia and her family.

    He was born on April 13, 1919 to the late Fidel Roybal and Genoveva Aragon Roybal in El Carmel, N.M., where he grew up.

  • Tanya Celine Trujillo

    Our beloved Tanya Celine Trujillo was called home to be with our Lord God, Saturday, March 1, 2008.

    A beautiful baby girl was born to Richard and Ruth Trujillo March 9, 1976.

    Tanya was a wonderful and loving Mother, Daughter, Sister, Auntie, Cousin and Friend. Tanya’s smile would brighten a room! She had a beautiful heart that was so full of love for her family and friends.

    Tanya was preceded in death by her grandparents: Salomon Aguilar and Consuelo Trujillo, also by her Uncle Tony Trujillo Sr.

  • Jimmie Agustin Herrera

    Jimmie Agustin Herrera, age 68, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., and longtime resident of Miami, N.M., passed away on Monday, March 3, 2008, at the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute surrounded by his family.

    He was born in Las Vegas, N.M. on July 25, 1939 to the late Agustin Herrera and Navora Jaramillo Herrera.

    He was united in marriage on Aug. 1, 1960, in Anton Chico, N.M., to Rumaldita Castillo.

    Rosary devotional services will be conducted on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas, N.M.

  • Guadalupe "Lupe" Adan Trujillo

    The Mass of Christian Burial for Guadalupe “Lupe” Adan Trujillo, a resident of Romero-ville who passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2008, was celebrated this morning at 11:30 from Our Lady of Sorrows Church. Father C. John Brasher celebrated the Mass. The interment followed in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren serving as casket bearers and honorary bearers.

    The family has requested that memorials in his memory be made to the Heating and Air Conditioning Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 403 Valencia, Las Vegas, N.M. 87701.

    Rita Garca Quintana died March 1, 2008.

    She was born 1920 in Villanueva, N.M. She was married to Cleofes Quintana of Garita, N.M.

    She is survived by: Son, Chris Quintana and wife Nancy of Santa Fe, sister, Frances Trujillo, her granddaughters: Christy Quintana of Denver, Angelica Quintana of Farmington, N.M., great-grandsons, Jeromino, Christopher, Eduardo, and Bobby.

    Great-granddaughters: Alejandra, Gabella, and Lucia.

    Step-grandsons: David Esquibel and wife Cara, Michael Esquibel and wife Patrice, and Albert Esquibel of Santa Fe.
