    Bryan Adam Brizal, age 34, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, N.M. passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 during the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ this past Easter Sunday.

    He was born in Las Vegas, N.M. on April 13, 1973 to Jesus M. Brizal and Donene Anne Peters Brizal.

    Thomas Oliver Mallory, Jr., age 84, professor of English emeritus, minister of the Gospel, linguist and hobbyist beekeeper and poultry breeder, died at his home in Sapello, N.M. on March 13, 2008.

    Cora Jean Montoya, born in Las Vegas, N.M. on Jan. 23, 1952, passed away on Wednesday March 26, 2008 at Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Arcelia Montoya and great grandson Lazaro Flores, Jr.

  • Josefita (Josie) Salinas

    A funeral mass for Josie Salinas was celebrated this morning by Father Thomas at Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe Church in Villanueva, N.M. Interment followed at the Villanueva Cemetery.

    Josie, 87, a life long resident of Villanueva, N.M., was called home with our Lord on March 22, 2008. She died peacefully at home surrounded by her children.

    Mary Lucy Encinias, age 66, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at her home surrounded by her family.

    She was born in Las Vegas, N.M. on May 18, 1941, to the late Ernest Romero and Annie Duran Romero.

    She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved to fish and spend time with her family.

    A lifetime Catholic, she was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

  • Arturo Tafoya

    Arturo Tafoya was called home to be with our Lord on Friday, March 21, 2008. Arturo was born on July 12, 1948. He was 59 years old.

    Arturo was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, brother, uncle, cousin, and faithful friend to many. Arturo enjoyed many outdoor sports to include, fishing and hunting. He was also a major supporter of area sport teams and a member of the New Mexico Highlands University Booster Club and was past president of the Las Vegas Jaycees. Arturo was self-employed as a professional meat cutter.

    Cornelia Sanchez, age 83, a resident of Rainsville, N.M., passed away on March 18, 2008, in her home.

    She was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Buena Vista, N.M. to the late Silviano De Herrera and Delfinia Lucero De Herrera. She was united in marriage to the late Erminio Sanchez.

    She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

  • Jose E. Herrera

    Jose E. Herrera, 83, a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away at the Princeton Place Nursing Home Facility in Albuquerque on Monday. He was preceded in death by his parents, Macario and Natividad Herrera and a brother, Lloyd Herrera.

    He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Las Vegas, N.M.; three daughters and one son, Macario Herrera and wife Vicki of Rio Rancho, N.M.; one brother, Henry Herrera of Albuquerque; five grandchildren: Joshua Herrera, Michael Elmer, Mark Herrera, and Matthew Herrera, and Mike Baca; and one great-grandchild, Angela Elmer.
