• Michael Damian Crutchfield

    It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Damian Crutchfield, 39, of Las Cruces on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008. He was born Nov. 5, 1968 in Las Vegas, N.M. to Merle Eugene Crutchfield II and Mary Belle Quintana. At the time of his passing, Michael was a Mechanical Engineer at White Sands Missile Range and was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.

  • Marcella Isabel Gutierrez Gallegos Maguire

    Marcella Isabel Gutierrez Gallegos Maguire of Dallas, Texas, passed peacefully away Sept. 5, 2008, from the arms of her caring family to the loving arms of her Lord. Born Nov. 8, 1938, in Las Vegas, N.M., she was preceded in death by her parents, Librada Larraaga and Roman Macario Gutierrez; her brother, Daniel (Dan) Gutierrez; and two of her five children, Patrick Gordon Maguire and Michele Monique Maguire.

  • Christine M. Archuleta

    Christine M. Archuleta, born July 29, 1987, passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 4, 2008, in Albuquerque at the age of 21.

    She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt.

    She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Sonny Romero of Denver.

    She is survived by her sister, Eileen Herrera and niece Savannah; brothers Michael Escamilla and fiancee Kristine Turner, and Ruben Martinez from the family home in Albuquerque.

  • Melaquias Padilla

    Melaquias Padilla, age 99, a lifetime resident of Mora County, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, N.M. after a brief illness.

    He was born on July 9, 1909, in Mora, N.M. to the late Julian Padilla and Beatrice Archuleta Padilla and was united in marriage to the late Maria Crestina Barela.

    He was lifetime produce farmer, traveled every Fall to Colorado to harvest potatoes and was a logger throughout the Mora area and also enjoyed horseback riding.

    Stella Perea, age 73, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, was called to be with the Lord, Monday, Oct. 6, 2008. She was a resident of Rio Rancho and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Mrs. Perea is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dr. Jose A.

  • Jesus J. Velasquez

    Jesus J. Velasquez, a native of Dilia, N.M., and a long time resident of Santa Rosa, N.M., passed away at his homeon Friday Oct. 3, 2008 surrounded by his loving family.

    He was born on Oct. 5, 1933, to the late Manuel Velasquez and Rebecca Jaramillo in Dilia, N.M. Among his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Eralda R. Velasquez; an infant son and son, Jessie Velasquez; brothers, Pete Velasquez, Joaquin Velasquez, and Manuel Velasquez; sisters, Antonia Velasquez and Zeniada Maestas; special uncle and aunt, Donaciano and Fedelina Herrera and uncle Antonio Velasquez.

  • Annabelle Quintana

    Annabelle Quintana, age 64, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at the Lovelace Vista Care Hospice in Albuquerque after a brief illness.

    She was a former member of the Unidos Con Cristo Choir and enjoyed dancing, listen to music. She was a cursillista, an avid Dallas Cowboy fan. She was a care provider for her mother Aurora Petra Quintana.

    She was preceded in death by her parents: Abel G. Quintana and Aurora P. Garduno Quintana; brother: Jose Quintana.

  • Fidel H. Urioste

    Fidel H. Urioste, age 78, a lifetime resident of Tecolotito, N.M., passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at his home.

    He was born on March 17, 1930, in Las Vegas, N.M., to the late Benjamin Urioste and Eva Marie Cordova Urioste.

    He was united in marriage on June 4, 1949, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Las Vegas, N.M. to Rita Maria Lujan.

    He was a member of the Labor Union 720 in Denver, a former president of the Tecolotito Water Board, a member of the Tecolotito Volunteer Fire Department, loved hunting, riding horses, ranching and farming.

  • Arturo A. Madrid

    Arturo A. Madrid, 46, a resident of Wichita Falls, Texas, passed away on Sept. 27, 2008. He was born in Las Vegas, N.M., on April 25, 1962.

    He is survived by his mother, Stella Madrid, brothers Leroy Rich-ards, John Madrid, Frank Madrid, sisters Sylvia Villanueva, Margaret Madrid, Anita Madrid and Josephine Gallegos, children Mari Valdez, Amanda Madrid, and Arturo Madrid, Jr, and sister-in-law Gloria Madrid.

    He had three grandchildren. He is survived by many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

  • Patricia Rose Tafoya

    Patricia Rose Tafoya, age 56, of Holman, N.M. passed away on Tuesday Sept. 30, 2008, following a courageous battle with cancer.

    Patricia worked as a child care provider for eight years and was a homemaker, always cooking beans, chili and tortillas for her loving family.

    She was born on Aug. 8, 1952, in Chacon, N.M. to the late Tomas E. Romero and Maria Romero, and is also preceded in death by her grandparents, Onesimo and Juanita Romero and uncle, Jose Romero.
