    Billy Larry Rey Hill, 64, passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2012, in Las Vegas. He was born on Thursday, Oct. 30, 1947, in Alamogordo, N.M., to Oscar and Soledad (Rey) Hill.

    Larry was raised in Alamogordo, attending Alamogordo public schools and college at the University of New Mexico, obtaining a degree in jurisprudence.

    He chose the field of law so he could be a fighter for the underprivileged.

    Leo Trujillo, 53, a longtime resident of Las Vegas passed away Sunday, April 1, 2012, at his residence.

    He was born Aug. 7, 1958 in Mora, N.M., to Lauriano Salazar and Emily Trujillo.

    He was a Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

    He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He enjoyed bike riding, listening to music, family gatherings and an avid Robertson High School fan and attended all games. He retired in 2006 after 27 years of employment as a Psych Tech at NMBHI.

    Gary Eric Atencio, 46, a resident of Albuquerque, N.M., passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012.

    Atencio is survived by his wife, Michelle Atencio; four children: Elisa Garcia and husband Martin, Erica Atencio, Jacquelyne Atencio, and Gary Atencio; three grandchildren: Daisy, Lily, and Natalie; his mother: Mary Henderson and husband George from Las Vegas; numerous brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

    Atencio served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Persian Gulf War.

    Alejandro Manuel Gallegos, 56, longtime resident of Las Vegas, raised in Watrous, N.M. died on Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Alta Vista Regional Hospital.

    He was born on Feb. 8, 1956, in Las Vegas to the late Jose Alejandro Gallegos and Rafaela Lopez Gallegos.

    He is preceded in death by his brother: Carl Gallegos.

    He is survived by his daughter, Wendy Gallegos of Las Vegas; his son: Jason Gallegos of Las Vegas; and his brother: Eddie Gallegos of Las Vegas.

    Diane Marie Ritchie, 30, a lifetime resident of Las Vegas passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at UNM Hospital in Albuquerque, N.M.

    She was born on Aug. 27, 1981, in Las Vegas to her father Frank Ritchie and her mother Catherine Sandoval.

    Diane was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, godmother and friend. She was formerly employed at New Mexico Behavioral Health Center, was an avid Denver Broncos fan, and she loved to shop.

    A Catholic, and a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Las Vegas.

    Rose Charlene Varela, 77, a resident of Albuquerque, and former resident of Las Vegas and Ribera, died on Wednesday, March 21 of pneumonia at Lovelace Medical Center.

    She was born on Oct. 20, 1934, to Lester Glenn Smith and Lucille Vivian Smith in Carlsbad, N.M.

    Her husband Jacob Varela and children Keith D. Ward and Lester Mark Ward preceded her in death.

    She is survived by her son: Charles Brommer, and daughters: Sandra D. Brommer and Tenika Varela, as well as, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.

    He was born on August 27, 1934 in Ocate, N.M. to Emilio Romero and Sofia Mondragon Romero.

    He was united in marriage on June 8, 1959 to Connie Wengert Romero in Wagon Mound, N.M. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church and was a Cursillista. He loved gardening, music, baking, was an architect, heavy equipment operator, mechanic, welder, and loved to play his harmonica and accordian. In his younger years he loved horseback riding.
