  • Candelaria Lucero

    Candelaria Lucero, age 77, a life long resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Friday, Dec. 12, 2008, at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, N.M.

    She was born on Feb. 24, 1931, in Las Vegas, N.M., to Benito Solano and Simplicia Madrid-Solano.  

    She was united in marriage on Oct. 10, 1941, in Las Vegas, N.M., to the late Cresencio Lucero  

    She enjoyed cooking, going to dances, and spending time with her  grandchildren.

    She was a life-long Catholic and a member of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

    Rosary devotional services for Dorothy Vigil were held Thursday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church. Funeral services were conducted this morning at 9 at Immaculate Conception Church, with Father George Salazar as celebrant.

    Flora Ortiz, age 89, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.

    She was born in Santa Fe, N.M., on May 29, 1919, to the late Albert Ludi and Manuelita Maes-Ludi.

    She was united in marriage, August 1939 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Las Vegas, N.M. to Gumecindo Ortiz.

    A Rosary will be recited Friday, Dec. 12 by the Catholic Daughters at 3 p.m. at St. Anthony Parish in Pecos. A Rosary will be recited by the Hermaños at the Santo Niño Mission at 7 p.m. in Lower Colonias that evening. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, in Lower Colonias with interment to follow in the Santo Niño Mission. Friends and relatives may visit with the family following the burial in Pecos at Casa de Herrera.

    Dorothy Vigil, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, N.M. went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, N.M., following an extended illness.

  • Bella Eva Garcia

    Bella Eva Garcia passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Dec. 6, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz.

    She was born in the village of San Jose, N.M., to Frutoso and Magdalena (Gallegos) Garcia.

    Mrs. Garcia attended elementary school in San Jose and was a graduate of Las Vegas Robertson High School. She worked at the San Miguel County Courthouse for 13 years.

    Flora Ortiz, age 89, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, N.M., passed away on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008 at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, NM.

    She was united in marriage in August 1939 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Las Vegas, N.M. to Gumecindo Ortiz.

    She worked for the Gibson Dept. Store as store clerk and was formerly employed at the Jayval Parachute Factory.

  • Alberto Gonzales

    Funeral services for Alberto Gonzales, age 90, a native of Chacon, N.M. and currently a resident of Las Vegas, N.M., were celebrated this morning at 10 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, N.M.  Interment followed at the Chacon Cemetery in Chacon, N.M.

    Mr. Gonzales passed away at Vida Encantada Nursing Home on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008. Mr. Gonzales was a lifelong resident of Chacon and a rancher in his beloved Mora Valley. He served in the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged in 1946.

    Dorothy Vigil, a longtime resident of Las Vegas, N.M., went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, Dec. 8, 2008, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Santa Fe, N.M. following an extended illness.

    She was born in Ojo Feliz, N.M., on Aug. 5, 1935. 

    She was united in marriage in Mora, N.M., in January 1951 to Filimon Vigil.  Dorothy was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, neighbor, and friend.

  • Richens (Dick) Lacy Wootton

    Richens (Dick) Lacy Wootton passed away on Dec. 2, 2008. He was born on Oct. 23, 1931, in Las Vegas, N.M. to John Peter Wootton and Elizabeth Pauline (Fuss) Wootton.  He married and is survived by J. Evelyn (Bailey) Wootton.
