Robertson’s Johnathan Trujillo joined an exclusive club of Cardinal wrestlers with championships in the Joe Vivian Classic by going 5-0 at 132 lbs. this past weekend at Albuquerque’s Volcano Vista High. Teammate Tristan Trujillo also reached the finals and came away with second place at 145 lbs.

Johnathan Trujillo’s long-awaited return to the Joe Vivian Classic gave his supporters something to smile about.

The Robertson junior went 5-0 with two victories by pin in winning the 132-pound weight division, joining an elite group of Cardinal grapplers to have come home with the coveted Joe Vivian championship medal.

The Albuquerque tournament has long been considered the best regular-season wrestling event in the state, drawing most of the top teams in all classifications.
