  • Wednesday, April 13, 1966 — The appointments of new graduate and undergraduate deans at New Mexico Highlands University were announced today by Thomas C. Donnelly, president of Highlands, following approval of the appointments by the Board of Regents. Dr. Ralph Carlisle Smith is the new undergraduate dean and Dr. Merritt Wilson McGahan is new graduate dean. Ninety-one applicants were screened for the position by the committee elected by the faculty for this purpose.

  • Highlands University and the United World College-USA will present a concert, “Celebration of the Arts: an Evening of Dance, Music, Theatre and Art,” at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.

    The free concert is in Highlands’ Ilfeld Auditorium at 900 University, and is part of Dance Fest 2016 at Highlands April 14 to April 17.

  • Tuesday, April 12, 1966 — Resignations commanded spotlight attention in the regular meeting of the Las Vegas City Council Monday night. The resignation of City Manager Harry Houck came as no surprise, as it was announced over the weekend. Other resignations were those of C.R. Morlan, gas manager; and Police Sergeants Julian Rains and Luis Loera. All resignations were accepted. Councilmen Carl Schwede and Trammel Ford abstained from voting on the resignations of Houck and Morlan
