  • Catching up in person with friends from 60 plus years ago is always fun. One of my favorite high school and college friends spent several days with me here at the ranch recently. We do admit we are getting older, but we still have a lot to laugh about and to be thankful for in so many ways.

    Luna Community College

    Luna Community College will be having its 11th Annual Car Show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at the college.

    A $20 entry fee is required per vehicle. Entries will be received until the day of the event. The first 100 paid entries will receive a commemorative T-shirt and a plaque. All entries will qualify for door prize drawings. Entries will be received until the day of the event.

    • West Mora Soil and Water Conservation District has changed their office hours. The new office hours are: 10 a.m. to noon and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. On days when regular or special meetings are scheduled the office will be open from noon to 4:30 p.m. For more information, call Megan McCawley-Rivera at 575-387-2424 ext. 5.

    Rociada residents Randy Huston and Hannah Huston released their album “Cowboys and Girls,” and it has already landed them recognition from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.

    The album will be awarded the organization’s Outstanding Traditional Western Album and Hannah will receive the New Horizon Award in April in Oklahoma City in April.

    • The annual San Miguel Fiestas will take place on Saturday, June 6 in San Miguel. Mass will begin the festivities at 9 a.m. with a raffle drawing taking place at 7 p.m.
    •  The Tri-County Farmers Market is open from 7 a.m. until sellout on Saturdays and Wednesdays at the Sixth and University parking lot. There will also be an afternoon market from 3 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays at Mallette’s Feed and Supply.
