    • Lions Club Glasses Collection Boxes are at the following locations. Banks: Southwest Capital, Community First, Douglas Ave and Legion Park; Wells Fargo; State Employees Credit Union. Opticians’ offices: Wal-Mart, Eye Associates, Mills Ave; Insight Optical, Highway 518. Also at Shoes ‘n Boots, Seventh Street then donated to charity groups serving those in need around the world.

  • Spring is here and all of the great activities that go with it are in full swing. It is a happy, exciting time especially at the Mora Schools.

    Last Tuesday, there was the Annual Health and Transitional Fair at the Joseph Montoya Gym. Many people from the community and the school attended the fair. The Mora/Colfax Head Start Program, Mora Valley Community Health Services, Mora Valley Health Council and School Based Health Centers sponsored the event.

  • A recent letter to the editor in the New Mexican (the Santa Fe daily paper) by Georgia Snead caught my eye. I have known Georgia and her family for a very long time and yes, she is closely related to our famed writers, S. Omar and Elliot Barker. She wonders why Omar Barker was left out of a collection written by Walter Skold, titled “Reviving Dead Poets.”

  • SATURDAY SÁBADO
    • Private Landowners Workshop at Pritzlaff Ranch on Saturday, May 17. There will be federal, state, and non-governmental agencies attending the workshop to provide information on conservation easements tax incentives, riparian land management, restoration projects, private landowner’s rights, sustainable thinning of trees and many more conservation programs. The workshop will begin at the Ranch Headquarters at 10 a.m. For more information, contact Debbie Pike 425-3581.

  • Yes, we almost blew away in April. Those bitter and ferocious winds kept a lot of us indoors. Just going out to the mailbox on our road was a challenge. That translates into doing indoor chores, and it doesn’t take much for me to get distracted.
