  • Yes, we almost blew away in April. Those bitter and ferocious winds kept a lot of us indoors. Just going out to the mailbox on our road was a challenge. That translates into doing indoor chores, and it doesn’t take much for me to get distracted.

    • Casa de Samaritan Homeless shelter at 716 Grand Ave. is operating 365 nights per year, providing meals, laundry and hot showers from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. From November through March, the shelter is open for overnight stays. Their Thrift Store, at Seventh and Legion, offers vouchers for clothing, bedding, etc. Applications for rental services for those who may qualify are available. Samaritan House offers a food pantry distribution every second and fifth Wednesday. Call 454-1390.

  • Yes, basketball season is over as far as the high school schedule is concerned, but it is still there. They have the Amanda Serna Memorial Basketball Camp coming up during the summer months. Some of the Mora athletes are going to the big North/South competition. NBA is still showing on television. Mora students have been busy with baseball, softball and track now,  but basketball has always been and will always be the king of sports in the Mora Valley.
