  • Submitted to the Optic

    Mora Youth Hunter Education Challenge traveled to Los Alamos to compete in the Northern New Mexico Youth Clay Target Challenge. Participants shot one round each of trap, bunker trap and 5 stand. Medals were awarded for 5 stand and for best aggregate in each class.

    Macario Sanchez tied for second place in boys 13 to 15 five stand, but after the shoot-off had to settle for third. He also took third in boys 13 to 15 aggregate. Leonardo Aragon got second for boys 12 and under in both five stand and aggregate.

  • Like it or not, Art Trujillo — it is that time of year! Yes! It is time for all good cooks to make fruitcake. Of course they have to be made in October to be ready ripe, juicy-fruity (with a little help from some rum or brandy) for Christmas gift giving.

    I will admit this amazing event almost got past me.
