  • Tuesday, Jan. 18, 1966 — A $2,800,000 contract to manufacture 100-foot cargo parachutes has been awarded to the Jayval Company of New Mexico, Ivan Hilton, president of the firm announced today. “This contract, the largest in the history of the company, will give us a backlog of contracts amounting to $3,750,000 going into 1966,” Hilton said this morning after word was received from the Army Aviation Supply Command in St. Louis, Mo.

  • Monday, Jan. 17, 1966 — The first steps were taken Saturday afternoon toward formation of a group of young people who really care, to act as “compadres” to children from environments of poverty or neglect. Meeting at the San Miguel county court house, 20 representatives of local high schools and Highlands University heard Brother Godfrey C. Reggis, F.S.C., of St Michael’s High School in Santa Fe tell of the program as it’s been carried on there.

  • It is almost “you can’t get there from here” at this old ranch. The end of December brought us a two foot snowstorm. Now that is like the old days, as the old-timers would say.
