    Luna Community College will again offer an enhanced college credit summer program for upcoming classified high school juniors and seniors. For several years, Luna Community College has offered the Student Academic Advancement Institute (SAAI). This year, it will run from Monday, June 1 to Friday, July 24. Registration begins on Wednesday and runs through Friday, June 5.

    • To celebrate the re-opening of the Dwan Light Sanctuary UWC-USA will present a musical program featuring UWC-USA Music Director Ron Maltais and second-year student Kailash Pandey of Nepal, who will play his tablah. The program will take place at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 at Dwan Light Sanctuary on the UWC-USA campus. The concert is free and open to the public.

    The UNM Anderson School of Management Foundation Board will celebrate and honor its 2015 Hall of Fame Inductees on Tuesday, April 7. This is the 26th year for the event that celebrates the best and brightest of our alumni, faculty and community leaders.

    Alta Vista Regional Hospital announces it will celebrate its seventh annual Healthy Woman Anniversary from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Luna Community College Allied Health Building in Las Vegas.

    The free event will begin with stretch and balance exercises presented by Curves for Women, followed by a beginner zumba session with zumba instructor, Louie Trujillo. The fun continues with a brunch and health expo, where local business representatives will distribute information on health, wellness and women-related topics and services.

    • Luna Community College’s main campus in Las Vegas will be closed on Friday, March 27 due to a water system upgrade the city of Las Vegas will be doing. Online classes will still take place as scheduled on Friday. The main campus will re-open on Saturday, March 28 for regular scheduled classes and events. The Santa Rosa and Springer Satellites and the Mora Site will remain open as scheduled on Friday.

  • Mora Schools is moving in the right direction, according to Mora School superintendent Dora Romero. Romero was awarded an additional year in her contract during a board meeting a few weeks ago.

    Mariah Elizabeth Romero of Holman accepted membership in The National Society of Collegiate Scholars  recently.
    Romero, a 2015 graduate of Mora High School, is currently a student at New Mexico State University.
