  • Whenever I get a chance, and when the weather is bearable, I spend a lot of time outdoors. This mountain ranch is so full of places to explore, of both ancient and recent history and of changing biology, which includes weather patterns. I wonder what I will discover next.

    Fortunately our library includes the Field Guide Series by Roger Tory Peterson and these wonderful resource books are dog-eared, well worn treasures that have answered so many of our questions about what we see, hear and even smell here.

    New Mexico Highlands University will host a number of homecoming activities throughout the day including a H Club Golf Tournament starting at 8 a.m. at Gene Torres Golf Course and ending with a stadium dance starting at 10 p.m. at Perkins Stadium. All activities are listed online at
