  • Two Lazaro Garcia Middle School students recently returned from a week at University of New Mexico Law Camp. They were thrilled and excited with the experiences they had during the week. They stayed on campus all week. The program and expenses was funded by the Hispanic Bar Association.  

    Krystah Pacheco, daughter of Jessyka Sanchez, and Amiree Olivas, daughter of John and Pam Olivas, qualified to attend the camp. They both had to have high grades and write an essay, in addition to having to be recommended by various people.

  • Surprises show up in all sorts of different ways around here. I am the happy recipient of “Death Comes Quickly,” Susan Witting Albert’s newest “who-dunnit” book in her China Bayles mystery series. This book is number 23 in the series, and I have read all of them. Susan and Bill Albert are our part-time neighbors who have a home in Pendaries.

    • Story time is over, but the Summer Reading Program is just around the corner. Registration is now open at Carnegie Public Library. Deadline to register is Friday, June 13. Come in and register. The program starts on Wednesday, June 18 and ends on Wednesday, July 16. Summer Reading Program participants meet every Wednesday at 10 a.m. to noon More information is available at Carnegie Library.
