Used glasses are repaired then donated to charity groups serving those in need around the world.

    Highlands University President Sam Minner invites the community to a roundtable on Monday about the value of a college degree.

    The roundtable discussion will be from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom, 800 National Ave. Light refreshments will be served.

    Free 2015 tax return preparation is offered for low- and middle-income persons and seniors by the AARP Tax-Aide Program. You do not have to be a senior, or a member of AARP, to receive the help. Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays (only) at the Highlands Student Union, third floor, National and Eighth. Call 505-652-4106 for an appointment. Walk-ins will be served as possible between appointments. Participants are asked to bring all documents and their 2014 return.

Hospice volunteers may read to a patient, take a walk, hold a hand when needed, play games or simply listen and provide companionship.   • Friday, April 15, 1966 — Two bomb threats were investigated today in Las Vegas. One threat was made in a telephone call to Robertson High School. The other was directed to the chief of police. At Robertson, an office worker answered a telephone about 10:25 a.m. and without any preliminaries a person said, “Evacuate the building — there’s a bomb in it,” the worker said.
