    • The Missoula Children’s Theatre will present a production of “The Princess and the Pea” at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Ilfeld Auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $8 for general admission and $4 for children 12 and under.

    • Movies in the Park, this weeks showing is Finding Nemo starting at dusk on Saturday, July 16 at Carnegie Library Park (weather permitting). Popcorn, drinks and snacks will be for sale by the Friends of the Library

  • We all know that a tiny spark that falls on a very dry forest starts a forest fire, instantly. The recent fires just over the hill from us brought back so many memories of fires here, not all that long ago.

    Silver Threads has recently completed a one-of-a-kind quilt to be raffled at the People’s Fair in August as a fundraiser for Friends of Carnegie Library.
    For June and July the quilt will be displayed at Community First Bank, Bank of Las Vegas, State Employees Credit Union, the City of Las Vegas city hall, Thread Bear and Carnegie Library.

    Rosita Gallegos, a native of Las Vegas for more than 70 years, celebrated her 104th birthday on Sunday, June 26.

    A party was held in her honor at Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehab Center where she resides.  More than 70 friends and family members gathered for the celebration. She was serenaded by Juan Ortega with the traditional birthday song, “Las Mañanitas,” as well as other Spanish songs. A luncheon buffet of Mexican food was served.
