  • The VFW Building and grounds was a busy place on Saturday as people set up their booths for the many people who came to enjoy the day visiting with friends and neighbors and shopping and playing games. Mora Summerfest was truly a family affair.

There were two food booths where people bought food and many booths with cookies, pies, tortillas and even watermelon. There were  six games with prizes for winners that were popular. They included balloon bust, ring toss and so forth.

  • I have an old, intricately designed and sewed patchwork quilt. I have worked many a jigsaw puzzle, and I have admired many beautiful mosaics in many different places. It takes talent to line up all of those pieces into a real work of art.
Such is the case with a very new book about Las Vegas. “Learning Las Vegas, Portrait of a Northern New Mexico Place” by Elizabeth Barlow Rogers is an unbelievably good piece of journalism.
