As Alvin Korte recently travelled his native land, he became aware of and puzzled by the public display of an image that was deeply imprinted on his mind as a youth — the swastika.

With Korte’s special interest in images and their meanings, more questions were raised. Why were swastikas — which today are synonymous with the Nazis and with death and hate — displayed on the high corners of the El Porvenir Hotel in Gallinas Canyon?

    SATURDAY SÁBADO

  • We have many talented workers in Mora who help keep the community going. Most of them are graduates of Mora High School.

We have plumbers, electricians, contractors, linemen and business men, and those who work behind the scenes doing thankless jobs for our community
One who aspires to be a contractor, plumber or electrician has to work in that area under a licensed contractor for several years before he can go through a rigorous test to qualify as a licensed contractor in building, plumbing and electrical work. Some go to school to learn a trade.

  • Just the other day (sort of a weary and worn out saying) I was invited to join Sharon Vander Meer behind the microphones on KFUN radio where she hosts a weekly program, “Writer’s Blog.” Sharon asks some great questions about the author/writer’s history, and that got me to thinking, researching and digging out some old files.
