    Transgender rights, sexual assaults on college campuses, and internet pornography have all been in the news lately — and while they’re unrelated in the way in which they’ve made news, they all have one thing in common: sex.

  • Friday, June 10, 1966 — A type L-16 light airplane was recently assembled by members of the local Civil Air Patrol Unit at the Las Vegas airport. Jim Sulier, commanding officer, and Mack Jo Sulier, executive officer, gave finishing touches to the craft prior to hosting a Fly-In Breakfast which the unit will hold Sunday morning from 6 a.m. to noon.

Valdez, teacher of Spanish and American history and principal in the Wagon Mound Municipal Schools, is one of 30 teachers selected by Indiana University to participate in an NDEA Institute for Advanced Study of Spanish, to be held in Bloomington, Ind., and Salamanca, Spain in June.

Used glasses are repaired then donated to charity groups serving those in need around the world.

  • Tuesday, June 7, 1966 — The Daily Optic starting Wednesday will publish free want ads for youths seeking work this summer. The Optic will publish ads of 20 words or less free three days. All ads must be delivered in person to the Optic. The service will be available to all persons under 21 years of age.
