  • The annual summer fun times are here at the ranch. Friends and relatives return to “recharge their battery” as my doctor father used to say here in our beautiful part of New Mexico. I am an unofficial tour guide for these younger generations.

    Yes, I have been here for a long time (now more than 80 years) and I have never tired of poking around in our Las Vegas with this younger set.

    Comedor Soup Kitchen will offer a second evening meal at the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish Hall on the Plaza. Join us Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at 4 p.m. for a hot meal and good company. Fresh produce and bread often available, as well as food pantry bags.

  • It automatically is a given… July brings the beginning of monsoon season to our mountains.

    I realize our weather patterns are changing, and this is the first July 4 celebration here with no rain in the forecast. When our guest ranch was in full swing here we had more than one picnic rained out.

    We have a large cast iron grill, a cooker/smoker made long ago by big boss Jim for just such events and somehow the hamburgers were never as tasty as those cooked on the fireplace down the creek.
