    The Tri-County Family Justice Center of Northeast New Mexico presents “A Mother’s Day Mariachi Concert and Comedy Show” featuring Carlos Medina y Mariachi, Comedian Graviel de la Plaga, with comedian and Las Vegas native Jose “Joser” Maestas. The show will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 14 at Ilfeld Auditorium on the Highlands University campus. Tickets are $12 and may be purchased at KEDP Radio Station or by calling 505-718-7300.

  • In case you missed it, April did fool us here in the mountains. That 16-inch snowstorm on April 29 surprised many of us, and that included the horses and cows that live here.

    A mother cow has quite a job cleaning off and licking her newborn calf in such deep snow and the horses have to dig for every bite of grass. Thank goodness for our hay barn containing good solid hay bales. I know the animals said “thank you” when the hay truck rolled out. Yes, it used to be a hay wagon pulled by a tractor.

    Green chile hamburger, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, peas and carrots, applesauce, and peanut butter cookie

    Our Lady of Sorrows Church will be the site of a special concert scheduled at 6 p.m. on Friday, as present-day musicians strive to help preserve one of the community’s historic musical treasurers. The fundraiser (for restoration of the 1885 Kilgen pipe organ at Our Lady of Sorrows Church) will draw on the talents of University of New Mexico Chamber Singers and Orchestra for a special performance with James Yeager serving as organist, and Kristin Ditlow directing.
