• Calvary Chapel Las Vegas, 2310 Seventh St., is taking part in Operation Christmas Child, in which people send shoebox gifts to more than 8 million children in 100 countries suffering from natural disaster, war, disease, famine and poverty. Fill shoeboxes with school supplies, toys, necessity items, hard candy and letters of encouragement. Step-by-step shoebox packing instructions are available at www.samaritanspurse.org. • The Student Nurses Association of Luna Community College is running its first Children’s Coat Drive. Donations of any unwanted new or used coats are being accepted at the Luna Allied Health Building, the Student Services Support Center and at the fiscal office until Nov. 30.
