Suddenly it is spring, and as I write this, storm clouds are building on our mountain tops. Has El Niño finally arrived? Often, in years past, the heaviest, wettest (and deepest) have come in May in our mountains here.
And back in the day, the acequias, the always-flowing ditches, were overflowing when the spring runoff started. There is almost no water in any of the ditches at the moment.
