  • Palabras Pintorescas - Dogs, friends and family gather to honor John

I wasn’t sure whether I had lost my wits or just gone to the dogs recently when I decided to walk a mile for a scholarship in John Harrington’s name. Our beautiful, very successful Mora Tree Research center was just renamed the John T. Harrington Forestry Research Center in his memory, and part of the festivities included a 10K run and a one-mile dog friendly run/walk.

The flier said, “Join us to celebrate John, his passion for running, the mountains, and his dogs.”

  • Palabras Pintorescas - Taking trips to unknown lands

I know there are different schools of thought when it comes to travel — taking a trip into unknown lands. Some just strike out on their own, often with a guidebook in hand, and discover the new area, country or whatever by themselves. I come from a very different school. Then you, the traveler, can decide whether you want to see and learn more about wherever you are.
