  • Palabras Pintorescas: My unexpected visit with Dr. Tice

The old boxes of books stored here keep me busy — busy going back in time with my vast family history. Most of the medical library is now housed at our University of New Mexico medical school, and I’m confident scholars there find these old books and their often dog- eared pages interesting.

  • Palabras Pintorescas: We had much in common with airline seatmate

I learned long ago that travel  brings up all sorts of fun encounters with complete strangers. I have always enjoyed starting up a conversation with a complete stranger, and of course this was no different a couple of weeks ago when flying home from Seattle with son Carl.

He (he has long legs so he sits on the aisle seat in an airplane) and I were joined by a classy lady who sat in the window seat. She and Carl both had work to do with their computers and I read the daily Seattle Times until snacks were served.
