METAIRIE, La. — Rob Brantly homered and drove in three runs to lead the New Orleans Zephyrs to a 5-0 victory over the Albuquerque Isotopes on Friday night at Zephyr Field.
Brantly, who came into the game with no RBI in 60 at-bats over 17 games in Triple-A, hit a run-scoring double in the fourth inning to score the game’s first run.
Chris Coghlan hit a solo home run in the fifth off Angel Castro (8-5), who allowed two runs in six innings and took the loss.
The Zephyrs added three runs in the eighth off Javy Guerra. Brantly hit a two-run homer that was a “splash hit” landing on the fly in the swimming pool beyond the right-field fence. Coghlan also singled home a run in the eighth.
The Isotopes (74-67) were held to five hits. The only extra-base hit was by Castro, the first extra base-hit of his career. The ‘Topes stranded the bases loaded in the third and fifth innings, left two on base in the seventh, and one in the ninth.
