Youth league registering now

Has the World Cup fever got you infected?

With the excitement of the once-every-four-years tournament in full swing, the Las Vegas Youth Soccer League is inviting area youngsters and their families to join in the fun of recreational soccer.

The league is registering players ages 4 through 13 now until the July 31 deadline. For a two-month fall season of games, the cost is $50 per child. For just $10 more, each player can play for the spring season as well. Cost includes jersey, shorts, socks and player insurance and helps cover operational expenses.

Registration is available online via the league Web site, lasvegasyouthsoccer.org, or in person at Desertgate Internet at 118 Bridge Street. More information on the league is also accessible on the Web site.

After the July 31 deadline, late registrants will be placed on a waiting list, so early sign-up is recommended.

Team assignments will be made in early August, and the fall season runs from late August to late October. The spring season picks up in mid-March and continues to mid-May.

Soccer is behind only baseball and softball (Little Leagues) in terms of numbers of youth league participants across Las Vegas.
