Las Vegas Women’s Golf Association is inviting any level player to join the group as it continues weekly play and plans an August tournament.
The LVWGA plays a nine-hole game at 8:30 a.m. every Wednesday at Highlands’ Gene Torres Golf Course. The last Wednesday of every month includes a luncheon after golf at the Grill at the course at 11:30.
“We are often joined by ladies who no longer play but enjoy the camaraderie of the group,” said Anne Pepper of the association.
The highlight of the season is the annual Play Day Tournament to be held at Highlands on Aug. 25.
Club president Em Krall and her committee have planned a scramble format with teams made up of A-B-C-D level players. Players must have a handicap or an estimated one for the committee to use when they make up teams. Women from all over northern New Mexico are invited to play in what Pepper calls “a very fun event.”
Cost is $60 and includes a continental breakfast, 18 holes of golf, cart and luncheon. Prizes for first, second, third place teams, closest to the pin and longest drive will be awarded.
