West Las Vegas wrestler Conrad Mares captured the 152-pound championship over the weekend in the annual St. Michael’s Invitational held at Perez-Shelley Gymnasium in Santa Fe.
Mares’ work on the mat led the Dons to a sixth place team finish in the tournament.
Rosendo “Ross” Valdez took fourth place at 125, and 215-pounder Manuel Silva reached the quarterfinals before withdrawing due to an ankle injury, noted WLV head coach Robert Alarcon.
