Leandro Garduño raced to an individual championship (among sixth- and seventh-grade boys) to highlight West Las Vegas Middle School’s performance in the Pecos Middle School cross country meet Wednesday afternoon.
Garduño crossed the finish line in 13:58. Teammate Miguel Coca took seventh with a time of 14:58.
West’s Sabrina Garcia also had a good day, running ninth in the eighth-grade girls’ division with a time of 21:40.
The lone WLVMS entrant in the eighth-grade boys’ run, Nicholas Packer, finished 30th in 23:16.
