WLV teams third in Hope tourneys

A roundup of basketball scores from the past weekend:

• West Las Vegas: Dual third-place trophies were the reward for West’s hoops efforts over the weekend in Albuquerque.

The Lady Dons captured third place in the Hope Christian Classic, beating Hatch Valley 43-34 on Saturday. They had won 61-37 over Hot Springs on day one but lost in the semifinals to top-ranked Hope 73-29 on Friday.

Meanwhile, the Dons rocked Socorro 77-60, lost a close semifinal to district foe Taos 60-55 and routed Rehoboth 75-52 for third place.

• Robertson: The Cardinal varsity went 1-2 in the St. Mike’s round-robin tourney, losing to Silver 59-36, then beating Bloomfield 71-53, before falling to the host Horsemen 70-39.
The Lady Cards lost 47-39 at Mora on Friday evening.

• Mora: Both boys’ and girls’ teams routed visiting Mesa Vista on Saturday. The boys won 84-33, and the girls prevailed 52-35.

•Wagon Mound: The Trojan boys downed Coronado 52-49 in Gallina.

• NMHU: Highlands’ men (7-9, 5-7 RMAC) defeated Black Hills State 91-78 on Saturday night.

The NMHU women lost 67-50.
