"Coach Mike" is coming back home.
West Las Vegas High School has selected Mike Ulibarri as its next head football coach, the Optic has learned.
Ulibarri most recently coached at Class 5A Santa Fe High, his first stint as a head coach. But West Las Vegas fans know him as one of their own. He was defensive coordinator and James Esquibel's top assistant for several years, including the Dons' last playoff run in 2003. Ulibarri was dubbed "Coach Mike" by students and players at WLV.
