WLV hires boys' hoops, volleyball coaches

The waiting is over for West Las Vegas, which filled two major coaching vacancies Tuesday.

David “Morgan” Montao was named head boys’ basketball coach, and Brian Gurule was tapped for the head volleyball coaching position. WLVS Superintendent Jim Abreu confirmed both appointments, which conclude months of search processes, Tuesday afternoon.

Montao is an alumnus of WLVHS who starred for the Dons basketball program in the late 1980s. He has coached cross country and track, though he had been away from the district in recent years.
