Alonzo Chavez made Mora sports history Saturday by capturing an individual state championship in boys’ cross country.

Chavez, who helped the Rangers take fourth place in the Class 2A team standings, has also won two state titles in track and field as a distance runner.

The state meet for all classifications was held Saturday at Rio Rancho High School.
