The minimum (city utility) rates, which include sewer and trash have already increased, as has tax from about 7 percent to 8 percent.
In 2004 the minimum (city utility) bill, including sewer and trash, was about $36. Now in 2012 the same bill is $53. That’s a difference of $12.
Unless there is a pay increase in local wages, Social Security and disability, it seems a water rate increase may very well over-burden our poor and working-class citizens of Las Vegas, N.M.
