The school publications staff at Wagon Mound High School will be attending the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association’s spring convention.
This year Wagon Mound’s school publications staff members are Corey Muniz, Amber Maestas, Charlene Trujillo and Darlene Trujillo.
Muniz, Maestas and Darlene Trujillo are all in the 11th grade. Charlene Trujillo is a 10th-grader. Their advisor is Eddie Lujan.
Muniz is the editor of “The Mound,” the school’s yearbooks while Maestas is the editor of “The Trojan,” the school’s paper.
The School Publications staff had a lot of fun working on both the yearbook and the different editions of the newspaper. The school’s newspaper is on line at www.wm.k12.nm.us. This convention will help them learn new material for next year’s yearbook and newspaper.
This year, the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association’s convention will be held in Anaheim, Calif. These students, along with their adviser, will leave for the convention on April 14 and return on April 17.
There will be about 9,000 other students attending.
Many workshops will be available for students to choose from. Yearbook innovations and current trends in newspaper writing are just some of the favorite workshops to attend.
Keynote speakers will include personalities from radio and television from the Los Angeles area.
