The Wagon Mound Public Schools custodians and Superintendent Albert Martinez were recently recognized at the Public Schools Finance Authority and CES Facility Managers Workshop in Albuquerque during the Ben Lujan Achievement Award Luncheon.

The Public School Facilities Authority conducted an intense Facility Maintenance Assessment of the Districts buildings and grounds and maintenance program.

The district was recognized for maintaining clean and safe environments for its students, employees and visitors.

This year’s competition was tough, and only nine schools were recognized for having excellent levels of maintenance programs throughout the state.

Five schools received honorable mention, one school received the Bronze Award, Wagon Mound Schools received the Silver Award, Lovington and Farmington both received the Gold Award.

“We have real clean facilities that are very well taken care and maintained,” Martinez said.

The Wagon Mound school district is maintained and cleaned by custodians Perfecto Olguin and John Romero.

The Mora County school district has previously received two gold and a silver Ben Lujan awards in previous years. This year’s award is the district’s fourth Ben Lujan award.
