Volunteers pick up litter around town

About 150 people took part in the annual spring cleanup Saturday morning, about half the number that usually shows up for such efforts.

Troy Denison, president of the Keep Las Vegas Beautiful Committee, which organized the cleanup, said athletic events, SynergyFest and the Entrepreneur Fair helped reduce turnout for the cleanup.

He said his committee will consider changing the date of the spring cleanup next year, but it has to be within a two-week period because of Keep America Beautiful grants.
