Vegas cop gets into accident

An Las Vegas police officer got into an accident in his squad car on an “extremely slick” road on Monday night, local police said.

Lt. Lawrence O’Connor lost control of his car around 5 p.m. about 12 miles out of town on state N.M. Highway 65, which links Las Vegas to Gallinas, Police Chief Gary Gold said.

State police are investigating the accident.

Gold said O’Connor was leaving his house for his shift that was to begin at 6 p.m.

The chief said O’Connor wasn’t hurt in the accident.
